What History saves

History stores successful push-to-talk dictations, continuous recordings, system-audio captures and local file jobs on this device. The list includes the source title, date, duration, waveform and export controls.

Captured audio is stored as a private local WAV attachment when available. Older entries or results created while audio preservation was unavailable can still contain text without playable audio.

History preserves the spoken source before translation or mode rewriting. OpenAI speaker labels appear when the selected transcription model supplies them; they are not available from every model.

Play, export or delete

  1. Open History and select a row.
  2. Use the play button to start or pause available audio.
  3. Follow the highlighted words while the recording plays. Timing is estimated when the model did not supply word timestamps.
  4. Select a position on the waveform to seek through the recording.
  5. Use the speed control to choose 0.5×, 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5× or 2× playback. This does not change the exported recording.
  6. Choose a text or audio format and select Download.
  7. Use Delete to remove the row and its attached local audio.

Choose retention

Choose the retention period at the bottom of History. Changing it applies automatically and prunes items older than the selected duration.

OptionBehavior
Keep indefinitelyStores new items until you delete them.
24 hoursRemoves items older than one day.
7 / 30 / 90 daysKeeps only the selected rolling period.
Do not saveStops new History records; existing items remain until deleted or pruned.

Storage and privacy

History and its recordings stay in your Windows account. WhisperARC does not synchronize this library between devices.

Usage counters

Menu shows average speed, dictated words, estimated time saved and transcribed files. Speed, words and time saved cover microphone dictations and system-audio captures; imported files have a separate counter. Time saved estimates typing time at 52 words per minute minus recording duration, with a minimum of zero.

These counters are stored locally as totals and timings. They do not keep another copy of the transcript. They are separate from History, so choosing Do not save or deleting a History row does not reset them.
